At the end of the journey, only twelve animals had made it to Buddha. They became the Zodiacs. One of the animals that successfully completed the journey was the Great Dragon. The earliest Chinese Dragons can be traced back to around 5,000 BC. Chinese foklore contains many tales that Chinese are descendants of dragons. One tale suggests that Nu Kua, a Goddess, was half mortal half dragon. Her offspring could supposedly shift from human form to dragons, and dragons to humans. Additional powers included being able to fly, and swim and even change size. Most Chinese dragons do not have wings. Those that do are said to be over 1000 years old. Own a legend.
